Schmahl World's chat page was always less than optimal.  I could never find a decent, low cost, low bandwidth program for the site.  Combined with the numerous free chat programs available it was decided to scrap the chat page altogether.

Instead, I have been using Google's Google Talk.  It combines conventional chat with voice capabilities.  Hopefully it will soon be compatible with other clients.  Until then, if you'd like to chat via Google and do not have the required Google Mail account, or just want to try it, go to http://mail.google.com and sign up for a Google mail account.  Once you've registered and have a google mail account you'll have access to Google Talk, Docs and Spreadsheets, and various other Google applications.
