Mom's Molasses Sugar Cookies

 

(This is a double receipe which makes 60 to 80 cookies)

 

1-1/2 cups Crisco, melt over low heat and let cool

Add

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup Brier Rabbit Molasses or Grandma's Molasses
2 Eggs

Beat well

 

Sift together

4 cups flour

4 teas baking soda

1 teas cloves

2 teas cinnamon

1 teas ginger

1 teas salt

 

Add sifted ingredients to first mixture

Mix well

Chill overnight

Form in 1 inch balls (Approx 1 oz) and roll in granulated sugar

Place on cookie sheets and chill overnight.  If they are not chilled they will not bake flat with cracks in them!

 

Place chilled balls on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart

Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes

Caution do not over bake
